About This Vote

A Global Audience

Votes came from 1,509 cities across 104 countries, and the trailers drew more than 4.7 million views on YouTube.

A Unique Voting System

Two random trailers appear side by side. You watch, pick the future you prefer, and a new pair follows.

We chose this format on purpose. Watching 65 trailers, three minutes each, and scoring each one is a heavy lift. Choosing between two is simple, more entertaining, and most people can answer honestly in seconds.

Each choice updates the trailers' ratings using an Elo system, originally developed to rank chess players. Winning against a highly rated trailer counts for more than winning against a lower-rated one.

Head-to-head matchups let millions of people produce a clear ranking, even among thousands of submissions.

Built To Measure Quality, Not Followers

Many online contests reward whoever recruits the most supporters. Here, there's no way to vote for a single trailer. Its rating moves only through head-to-head matchups, rising when voters choose it over the trailer beside it and falling when they don't.

Across hundreds of thousands of choices, the results reflect what people preferred, not simply who brought the biggest crowd.

Protecting The Vote

We wanted this contest to be global and open to anyone. But with prize money on the line, we knew people would try to game it. Our crowdvoting team, SIV.org, built a layered defensive system that weighs more than a dozen signals to separate genuine preferences from spam and coordinated boosting.

To hold ourselves to a high standard, we also worked blind, like orchestra auditions held behind a screen. We saw each trailer only by an animal nickname, never its real title, so every anti-fraud rule was locked in before anyone on our team knew which trailers were rising.

Thank You

Thanks to everyone who voted and shared, and to every filmmaker who put a vision of the future into the world. We've been inspired by every one of them.

This year's voting is closed, but the trailers are still up. Keep choosing between visions, make your own rankings, and who knows, maybe you'll be moved to build the future you prefer.
